About

Executive coach and consultant, Mark Cappellino works with c-level leaders to sustain high performance at the intersection of culture and strategy. He engages leaders with practical, rapid start methods and models to build novel responses to complex problems. He works with individual leaders and their teams to solve for post merger/acquisition leadership team integration, culture/strategy change, executive on-boarding into role, high functioning executive-to-executive relationships, and cascading leadership performance through the organization for scalability and sustainability. Mark draws from multi-national experience in executive leadership, leadership team, and organizational development. Mark is hired by corporate boards to prepare leaders for succession and success in role.

Approach. Mark’s rigorous approach combines extensive training in coaching, organizational psychology, and management with more than 20 years of corporate experience. His style is direct, insightful and, at times, irreverent.

Background. In private industry, Mark served with multimillion dollar companies as director of organizational development, vice president of sales and marketing, and business unit leader. Leveraging the insights gained as an executive and manager, he works from a systems perspective to help people enhance their self-awareness and more clearly see the systems in which they work.

Education. Mark obtained a master’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering & Management from Clarkson University. He has also taken mediation training and is licensed as a group process facilitator.

Activities. Passionate about learning, Mark serves as an executive coach for TED Fellows through the SupporTED program. He is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), and the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM), as well as being a charter member of the International Consortium for Coaching in Organizations (ICCO), and a past president of the Tennessee Coaches Alliance.

  • Mark worked with our senior management team during a time of difficult culture change. My team was neither prepared nor able to handle difficult conversations that were important to building trust and helping us to navigate this transition. After working with Mark, each of us is a better, more open communicator.”

    Michael Rosen

    President Kroll® Background America

  • Mark would be an excellent executive coach to work with whenever management style, interpersonal relationships, communications or image are the issues. I found him to be a really solid listener and very knowledgeable about what makes executives effective.

    Jerry Geraghty

    CEO Rogers Group Inc.

  • Mark helped me recalibrate my existing work relationships and form new ones so that my communications are now much more effective. Whatever news I have to deliver, people understand it is shared in the context of “we’re all on the same team here and my interests are your interests”.

    Devin Schultz

Assistant General Counsel Ingram Industries Inc.

  • I experienced an entire shift in my personality during one of our conversations. Something Mark said literally—and abruptly—unleashed the leader in me.

    Michael Gardner

VP of Finance & Operations MissionPoint Health Partners

  • As a coach, Mark has a way about him of asking exactly the right questions, and listening and getting down to the core of things…even to the core of who you are. He helped me discover my unique, authentic leadership style, clarify my role in relationship dynamics, and more effectively lead from my strengths.

    Beth R. Chase

President & CEO C3 Consulting LLC

  • After 10 years in corporate America and 30 years as an entrepreneur, there’s not much in business I haven’t seen and resolved. Sometimes I have difficulty seeing exactly what the current problem is. I can count on Mark to shine a light on the situation so I can see it clearly. He is straightforward and direct without being heavy-handed.

  • The minute you meet Mark, you feel like he’s someone you already know, someone you can be comfortable with. He’s the kind of collegial person who listens and is truly interested in what you’re saying and who is, at the same time, interesting himself. Very engaging. Extremely genuine.

  • Mark has an uncanny ability to broaden the lens of his audience so that true insight, learning and change take place. His approach is neither formulaic nor prescriptive. His willingness and capacity to move with the needs of an individual or group allows them the freedom to find the core issue or challenge and then to address it in a proactive, productive way.

  • Mark Cappellino is an unbeatable speaker…year after year. He helps leaders realize what they can do in the workplace that is more interactive, collaborative, and effective.

    Mark D. Cannon

Associate Professor of Leadership & Organizational Studies Vanderbilt University

  • Having breakthrough conversations that really make a difference for our clients is critical to our consulting firm’s success. Working with several of our real-life situations, Mark helped us ‘unpack’ each challenging conversation, break it down, try out a different way of thinking about it, and learn how we could go about having that same conversation and end up with a breakthrough.

    Beth R. Chase

President & CEO C3 Consulting LLC

  • Mark Cappellino is humble, yet assertive…both positive, powerful characteristics for coaches. He has a self-confidence and centeredness that are helpful for those of us who like to feel we’re dealing with someone who has their act together. Whenever I raise an issue, he knows exactly what point to go to and exactly what tools I can use to work on that. He’s continually sharpening his blade—and it shows.

  • I don’t trust coaches. But when I met Mark at the suggestion of my CEO, I instantaneously felt he knew what he was doing, could be trusted and would deliver. I was right on all counts.

  • Mark is a fabulous listener. He creates a non-threatening learning environment that helps executives peel away the layers of emotion and fear to get right to the heart of the issues they are facing.
